The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench with Friction Ring (model 2967-21B) is a kit built around Milwaukee's most power-dense impact wrench in its class. It pairs a POWERSTATE Brushless Motor with a friction-ring anvil for fast, tool-free socket changes, and ships with an M18 REDLITHIUM XC5.0 battery.
What it does well
- POWERSTATE Brushless Motor delivers up to 1,100 ft-lbs of fastening torque and 1,500 ft-lbs of nut-busting torque with the M18 REDLITHIUM XC5.0 battery.
- Compact 7.6" length for greater access in tight spaces.
- 4-Mode DRIVE CONTROL sets RPM and IPM from a single button, including AUTO SHUT-OFF (Mode 4 applies no more than 50 ft-lbs for hand-tight fastening) and a bolt-removal mode that slows to 750 RPM once a fastener is loosened.
- Friction ring (hog ring) anvil for quick, tool-free socket changes; Tri-LEDs surround the anvil for reduced shadows.

Because it uses the M18 battery system, it fits best if you already run M18 tools or want to build into that platform. The friction-ring anvil suits users who swap sockets often; if you prefer a pin-detent retention, choose that anvil variant instead.
