The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench with Friction Ring (model 2967-21B) is a kit built around Milwaukee's most power-dense impact wrench in its class. It pairs a POWERSTATE Brushless Motor with a friction-ring anvil for fast, tool-free socket changes, and ships with an M18 REDLITHIUM XC5.0 Resistant battery, an M18 & M12 multi-voltage charger and a contractor bag.
What it does well
- POWERSTATE Brushless Motor delivers up to 1,100 ft-lbs of fastening torque and 1,500 ft-lbs of nut-busting torque with the M18 REDLITHIUM XC5.0 battery.
- Compact 7.6" length for greater access in tight spaces.
- 4-Mode DRIVE CONTROL sets RPM and IPM from a single button, including AUTO SHUT-OFF (Mode 4 applies no more than 50 ft-lbs for hand-tight fastening) and a bolt-removal mode that slows to 750 RPM once a fastener is loosened.
- Friction ring (hog ring) anvil for quick, tool-free socket changes; Tri-LEDs surround the anvil for reduced shadows.

This is a high-torque 1/2" wrench for pros breaking loose stubborn bolts and fasteners — automotive, fleet, and heavy equipment work. Because it uses the M18 battery system, it fits best if you already run M18 tools or want to build into that platform. The friction-ring anvil suits users who swap sockets often; if you prefer a pin-detent retention, choose that anvil variant instead.
