The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 1-1/2" Lineman Magnetic Drill High Demand Kit (2788-22HD) is a cordless magnetic drill built for structural steel and lineman work, drilling up to (76) 13/16" holes per charge and handling a full 1-1/2" annular cutter capacity. Because the SKU is a -22HD kit, it ships with the tool plus M18 REDLITHIUM FORGE XC8.0 battery packs and a charger.
What it does well
- Permanent-magnet base holds without electricity, so the magnet stays engaged even if the battery drains — a safer setup on 1/4" steel.
- Auto-Stop lift-off detection cuts power to the motor if excess rotational motion is detected while drilling.
- 2-speed gearbox runs 400 / 690 RPM with a 5-3/4" stroke length and 5-1/8" motor head adjustment.
- POWERSTATE brushless motor with REDLINK PLUS intelligence protects the tool and battery against overload and overheating.

This is a pro-grade cordless mag drill for ironworkers, linemen, and steel fabricators who need corded-level annular cutter capacity without dragging a cord to elevated or remote work. If your holes fall within 1-1/2" annular / 1/2" twist bit capacity and you already run M18, the High Demand kit gives you batteries and charger in the box. If you only drill occasional small holes, a lighter hand drill may be a better fit.
